Tribunal rules new coal power plant can proceed – but not yet

A tribunal today found EPA Victoria was wrong in issuing approval for a half-size gasified-coal power plant, but ruled the 600MW full-scale version can only proceed when the Federal 'contracts for closure' scheme locks in the retirement of a matching amount of existing brown coal-fired generating capacity.
