Government accepts call to consolidate environmental controls on uranium mining

The Rudd Government will consolidate all environmental responsibilities relating to uranium mining within the Federal environment portfolio and is considering whether to abolish the existing automatic requirement for new uranium mines to undergo EPBC Act assessment.
